Kitchen Dwellers
About
Kitchen Dwellers are a Bozeman, Montana–based quartet blending bluegrass, folk, and psychedelic grit into an exploratory strain of modern roots music shaped by the American West.
The Katabatic EP captures a focused and atmospheric moment in the band’s creative evolution. Recorded in late November 2021 at Mighty Fine Studios in Denver and Peach Street Studios in Bozeman, the three-song release draws from winter landscapes and natural contrasts, weaving mythic lyricism with spacious instrumental interplay, shifting grooves, and evolving tempos.
The song “Madison” tells the story of a mystified angler on the Madison River, drawing parallels between love and the unpredictable rhythms of fishing. Instrumentals “Mimas and Ida” and “Katabatic” expand the sonic palette with guest trumpeter Eric “Benny” Bloom of Lettuce, whose brass textures add lift and momentum. Produced by Kitchen Dwellers, mixed by Stephan Gueguen and Max Davies, and mastered by Gueguen, The Katabatic EP offers a distilled snapshot of the band’s boundary-pushing approach to modern bluegrass.
